Support your sense of smell with essential oils

Losing your sense of smell is one of the side effects of COVID 19. For some people it is the only symptom they experience.  Losing your sense of smell/taste can be an emotional  and stressful experience. Our sense of smell of our most powerful sense, and has a huge impact on our quality of life.

When we smell a fresh cut rose,   the familiar scent of your spouse, or your favorite meal it triggers the emotional center of our brain. This is where we store our memories, happiness, relaxation, and joy. When we can no longer smell  the things that are familiar to us it raises some alarm and can create anxious feelings. Most people regain their sense of smell within 8-28 days.

There are some things you can do to help retrain your sense of smell ie..olfactory system. Our olfactory system, is our nose. When we inhale an aroma it goes into our nose and up through our olfactory system, to our limbic system.  To retrain our olfactory system you are going to need a few essential oils.  These oils have been found to help with regaining your sense of smell.

For 12 weeks, 2-3 times a day , apply one drop of each essential on their designated cotton ball. Hold each cotton ball, one at a time, about 1 inch from your nose and inhale for 10-20 seconds. Breathe in deep though your nose, and out through your mouth.

Start with Rose, then Eucalyptus, then Lemon then Clove.

After 3 months you can change to a new set of essential oils, such as Tea Tree, Peppermint, Lavender and Breathe essential oil blend.

Make sure you are using, only Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils for their standard or purity and safety.

Stay Healthy and well,
